“Cheese ponganalu” – A kids friendly, healthy and filling evening snack. They taste amazing when served with any chutney, sambar or even ketchup too. The recipe can be prepared in two different ways. Cheese is grated and mixed with chopped onion, coriander leaves and green chilli. Later mixed with batter and pour in ponganalu/paniyaram pan to fry them on both sides. The other method is, fresh coconut pieces are added to the batter and small balls are prepared with cheese. The prepared balls are dipped in batter and fried on both sides in paniyaram pan either with ghee or oil. Here I present lip smacking cheese ponganalu which can be served as an evening snack to relish. Njoy Cooking, Serving n Savoring!

Ingredients:

Dosa batter: 2 cups(As required)

Onion: 1 no.

Green chilli: Half

Coriander leaves: Few

Cheese: 2 small blocks(As required)

Method of preparation:

1. Chop onion into fine pieces. Chop coriander leaves too. Grate the small cheese block into a bowl. Mix thoroughly with a spoon.image

2. Heat ponganalu pan and pour little oil in each mould for frying ponganalu.image

3. Take two cups of dosa batter in a vessel. Take one tsp of chesse onion mixture. Just dip them in batter and pour into the paniyaram pan.image

4. Fry them on low flame till they change colour. Keep the lid.image

5. Turn the ponganalu other side and fry them.imageimage

6. Transfer them onto a plate.image

7. Now make required number of small cheese balls with the remaining cheese and keep aside.image

8. Chop the fresh coconut into small pieces and put them in remaining dosa batter. Mix well.image

9. Take small cheese ball and dip them in dosa batter and pour into the ponganalu pan.imageimageimage

10. Fry them on both sides till they are cooked completely.

11. Transfer both varieties of ponganalu onto a plate.image

12. Now the cheese ponganalu/paniyaram are ready to serve hot. Serve them with coconut chutney and sambar.image

13. During frying the ponganalu because of heat, cheese inside the ponganalu melts which gives very nice taste, also a nice crunch of coconut pieces while consuming them.image
